Learning is Limitless

I know learning is boundless for me. Even as a teacher of 24+ years, I learn new things every day—from research, from students, and best of all, during lessons as I am teaching concepts and theory. I always tell my students that we don’t really learn something thoroughly until we start teaching it or at least sharing our knowledge, so I encourage them to help fellow classmates and study partners in understanding concepts or applying fundamentals or strategy, and then they will discover that the concepts they are teaching will start making more sense to them.

Then, every time I think I really know and understand something, I learn something new about it, that gives me more insight into it, and at the same time, makes me think… I didn’t really know it all that well before. When I graduated from undergraduate school, I thought I knew and understood everything in-depthly about science. When I started teaching, I realized I didn’t even know my own major topic of study thoroughly enough. Everyday that a teach, I learn new things and learn things more in-depthly. I am constantly under the impression that there will be no point in my career when I will know everything or anything well enough, and I feel this is what helps me improve and evolve as an educator. Constantly striving for and achieving greater knowledge, understanding, and insight, and furthermore, sharing all this with my students is why I love what I do!
